Following the release of her kaleidoscopic summer EP No Bad Days, London-based vocalist, bassist and producer MEI continues her Antonio Vivaldi-inspired trio of seasonal projects with the first single from her second, autumnal series No Dim Lights.
The project's first single "I'm Certain" features hearty, rhythmic beats and MEI's gloriously unique and soulful vocals. Produced and co- written with Danio Forni Jr (Husky Loops) and Joy Anonymous, the track weaves future electronics with a melodious drum groove to create a captivatingly sleek single. Whereas "Don't Ignore Me" sees addictive bass lines and erratic beats amalgamating into a gritty contrast to the former. Both tracks explore the changes in the season and elegantly draw sonic inspiration from darker nights.

“‘No Dim Lights’ captures this annual fight back I find myself doing. The change of season means that the days are shorter and darker in this part of the world, it kind of feels like a dimmer switch has been turned," explains MEI.

"As a black woman trying to be successful in the music industry, I often feel a bit invisible and it feels like it can take an even longer time for your talent to be acknowledged, which I think many can relate to in many industries. And so the fight is to not give up, even on my gloomy days my light still shines and nothing can dim it. I’ve noticed that I listen to a lot of rap, grime and hip hop music in the Autumn because it motivates me to stay on my grind and some of the stories you hear in these types of music are really inspiring. So with NDL it felt right to explore these styles and be completely honest and vulnerable in my lyrics."
