Lately 03:07
I want to be on the other side Those pictures make me go back in time I’ll break the glass and maybe we can run and hide Bend to your knees and then I can climb I’d like to walk on my comfort’s right Picking up rocks and one day goes by Maybe if I find heavy one’s they’ll make me light And all the memories make me try Lately I need someone that I used to be Lately I need someone that I used to be Take me to five when I used to believe ‘Cause Lately I need someone that I used to be I want to be where I knew the ropes And every diary filled with hope I’ll take the words to make a song and help me cope But it’s been years since I stayed afloat I need, I need, I need Someone that I used to be I need, I need, I need Back to when I felt like me I need, I need, I need Someone that I used to be I need, I need, I need I need to be free

Warning 04:35
The water’s looking murky Float on top amongst the algae Your stagnant ways allow me To creep up on you without Mercy How much longer ’til your words sink Not much longer now my voice rings Undulate into your brain accept the hint And beware the time is coming Warning (I know you hear me) Calling (you can’t ignore my) Warning (and now the day is) Dawning (I will rise up, I will take control now) There’s no weapon formed against me That can prosper so dear enemy Time to flee no grip on me accept defeat And return below my concrete So hear my.. Warning (I know you hear me) Calling (you can’t ignore my) Warning (and now the day is) Dawning (I will rise up, I will take control now) Warning Calling Warning Calling Poem I used to walk with blindfolds on familiar streets Cold to a world of walking empaths and the impact they had on me I was sure I could thaw but I wondered if i would If purpose would find me and give walking new meaning New heights Staring beyond shop windows into The eyes of a wish made by mama I still doubted the magic Sat scoffing at dreamers and the chances that paid for more than a bag of chips I used to doubt the purpose of what could not me explained Self Stuck wondering what that meant And why it made me cry to think of life without the bits that make it mine One day my sights met with a girl who made her visions sound like symphonies Her mistakes sound like harmonies amongst a sea of pathways that could span eternities of truth And though I hadn't looked in years, I searched harder through the reflections of her tainted smile I could no longer hide from the mess I could see what it really was who she really was Me at my best Completely unarranged and yet everything had indeed been planned Just like every grain of sand has had a journey and will continue into wild winds, seas and other shores I am like every grain, both home and unfinished

Coily clouds calm seas Midnight pillows of dreams Crowns that float in these streets Quench my thirst for peace Let my roots become seeds Balance growth in these streets Ahhh ahhh ahhh ahh Keep on carry on strong hold And walk with me (Won’t you walk with me) Keep on carry on strong hold And walk with me (Help me calm the seas) Keep on carry on strong hold And walk with me (Quench my thirst for peace) Keep on carry on strong hold And walk with me (Balance growth in these streets) Ahhh ahhh ahhh ahh Woohooo Blossom dance to the breeze Praising my identity New found heritage in me Left to grow sans bleach Hues of copper honey Embrace the heritage in me Ahhh ahhh ahhh ahh Keep on carry on strong hold And walk with me (Won’t you walk with me) Keep on carry on strong hold And walk with me (Help me calm the seas) Keep on carry on strong hold And walk with me (Quench my thirst for peace) Keep on carry on strong hold And walk with me (Balance growth in these streets) Ahhh ahhh ahhh ahh Keep on carry on strong Hold on And walk with me

Hollow, weary dazed in thought and memory Father can you hear me If so tell him I’m sorry Why yours, not mine I wish I knew why it was time No warning or sign Just like stars shoot through skies So glad we caught a glimpse of your light Once mad but through the tears we strive It will never be the same But we’ll always speak your name So long, shine on In that case I must try we must fly x3 And one day we’ll see you in the sky Gifted in abundance Why did the sun set before you could rise (rise we’ll see you in time) I’ll wait for a reply (destiny fulfilled) In that case I must try we must fly In that case I must try we must fly x3 And one day we’ll see you in the sky So glad we caught a glimpse of your light Once mad but through the tears we strive It will never be the same But we’ll always speak your name So long, shine on

Hurrygirl 03:30
Picking up the pace ‘cause yes I’m definitely in a hurry, hurry, hurry Not part of the race but yes I’m definitely in a hurry, hurry, hurry She said that time’s a wastin’ If I become complacent Take my nose off of the scent But I bet that’s what was expected Except I’m definitely in a hurry, hurry, hurry Take time my girl the morning’s due Take time my girl you’ll make it through It’s easy to go too fast and forget To take time my girl Stumbling through the street ‘cause yes I’m definitely in a hurry Tripping on my feet because my dreams are not encouraged My anxiety puts up her fists and it’s a flurry Flurry, hurry! I’m losing now bruising but choosing, to fight it Excusing the self-abusing with my own words, that kill me Take time my girl the morning’s due Take time my girl you’ll make it through It’s easy to go too fast and forget To take time my girl Stumbling through the street ‘cause yes I’m definitely in a hurry Tripping on my feet because my dreams are not encouraged Take time my girl the morning’s due Take time my girl you’ll make it through It’s easy to go too fast and forget To take time my girl To fight it x4

about

The London-based vocalist, bassist and producer released her debut EP ‘Hurrygirl’, a celebration of black British talent. The flawed superhero we can all relate to, Hurrygirl is a character that shares similar struggles we all go through in life. Her cross-genre project explores themes of beauty, loss, identity and empowerment.

The title-track and lead single also encapsulates the importance of Notting Hill Carnival’s cultural legacy, saturated with stormy synths and warm calypso inspired hooks. Second single ‘Afrowalk’ features the London jazz trumpeter and Blue Lab Beats collaborator Shelia Maurice-Grey - whose smooth brassy undertones effortlessly complement MEI’s warm vocals.
